Lord of the Sea & Sky

You don’t need to travel too far to experience the trilogy of wind, water and rocks, when you can enjoy it at Radisson Blu Beach Resort, Fujairah. The room’s best stand-out is its view: a grasping abyss of pristine blue waters, over a horizon of rain clouds and mountains. All rooms have sea-overlooking balconies fitted with comfy chairs, thus making for a cozy coffee conversation. The beach is well maintained, clean and covering a lengthy expanse.

*Oops!* Seems, like I rushed the readers straight out the balcony, without mentioning the hotel. Being from an established group of Resorts, Radisson Blu does not fail to impress the guest with its quality location, interiors, comfort and value for money. Importantly, its the ambiance and Guest-relations that counts, and surely the hotel was not complacent on their delivery. From the time of your arrival to your departure, you are well taken care of by the Concierge, Receptionist and Housekeepers. At the lobby, after you have received your welcome drink, take a quick look around the hotel’s facilities. Some of the key attractions being:

  • Library: A cozy study room by the beach side equipped with divans, study tables and chairs, magazine desks, coffee tables, a large cabinet with selected novels, and a PC.
  • Spa: Facilitating both indoor spa and beach massages for the guest
  • Lounge: With a bar, Billiards table for smokers and non-smokers.
  • Kids Section: For parties and children’s access.
  • Dining Restaurants: all of which overlook the beach.

Even while you are escorted to the rooms, you can stop and enjoy the valley view from the corridor lounges: bright and well placed divans with coffee tables. The hotel has really invested in it’s guest luxury.

Our package included a night’s stay with breakfast. We dined at Breeze for breakfast and lunch. This restaurant is known for its extensive outdoor seating, and delicious buffet spreads of continental and Arab cuisines.

Breakfast spread included: Egg station, pancake and waffle station, Fouls Mesdames, Hash browns and Sausages, cold cuts, cheese counter, assorted breads, muffins and cakes (including Christmas Stollen!), an array of fresh juices, cereals. I observed they also served low calorie breakfast specials available in the a la carte menu.

For lunch, we ordered from the menu, and the chef – Mr. Kant, was kind enough to accommodate our request for special diet food, making sure it was served as specified. My order was a Grilled Salmon cured with potato puree.

All through our stay, I’d like to appreciate the hospitality of Mr. Savio D’Souza, who went out of his way to ensure our comfort at all times. The complete room reservation (even though it was at the last minute), to the food arrangements, as well as check-out was carried out with gracious and professional incumbency.  Mr. Savio, allow me to say that we shall be regular guests as long as you’re around.

The Shangri – La Hospitality at the Traders Hotel

I have stayed here often. Nice place for a casual weekend escape. Take advantage of the summer rates valid until 31 August 2013!

Its a weekday already?!

How fast a weekend passes is something you’ll realize when you reach your work place the next day. *sigh* Nevertheless the quick and short weekend was great 😀

Today I thought I’ll share pictures of my weekend stay at the Traders Hotel, Shangri La, Abu Dhabi. This hotel was discovered by my sister who I must say does have the habit of discovering amazing places in the most unexpected of areas. One such summer when she decided to take me away for my birthday weekend 2 years back, she discovered this amazing hotel. The Traders Hotel by Shangri La to be honest is the cheaper way of experiencing the Shangri – La hospitality that is world famous i believe. Though this seems to be the business hotel division of Shangri – La Resorts, it never fails to disappoint. A 4 star hotel in a quiet corner of…

Sleep at 18 degrees: Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel, Abu Dhabi

We had a voucher from Groupon ® for a stay at an iconic hotel, once featured on National Geographic for its unique style and architecture: The Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel, at Abu Dhabi. The design and layout is so extraordinary, you feel the marvel of its construction and interiors right from the entrance.

We were greeted by the valet, who attended to us and our luggage immediately upon arrival, and then by a hostess, who told us that the Hotel starts from the 18th Floor upwards, which is where the Check-in Reception / Lobby was also located. The ground floor until the 17th were commercial spaces rented by various prestigious companies. Must be awesome having to go to work to that kind of address.

Its at the 18th Floor, that you feel the tilt, and true to its number, its inclined at perfectly 18° as well; also a restaurant with the same name is located right there.

The check-in is swift, and thoroughly well organised. The normal requirements for IDs were produced, and forms filled, and we were given our room cards (2 standard rooms, one for me and my sis, the other for my parents) on the 31st Floor. When the Receptionist mentioned the floor number, I wasn’t expecting the tower to be that tall, so I had a brief freeze moment at his desk, which was so embarassing now that I think of it.

Here again we were shown in by the hostess, and the room indeed was such a delight. Closet luggage room, mini refrigerator, espresso machine, and ofcourse the Flat screen were some of the amenities provided. Also there was a small desk table with dock stations for charging all of your possible gadgets, complimentary fruit, hair dryer, extra pillows, shoe accessories, iron with board and reading lamps.

The bathroom was magnificently bright, royal and super clean. There was vanity area, immaculately clean bath tub, toilet area plus a rain shower for those who preferred so. Beautifully laid out were the hand towels, lotions and body gels / soaps for utmost comfort.

And now, the star of the show: The view from your window:

The breath-taking view from this height is simply worth coming here for. I could stare at this panoramic sight for hours. Do not especially miss the sunset, the sunrise, and the traffic post dark that resemble tiny neons on the unending road.

Breakfast was complimentary with the stay, and we were to enjoy the scrumptious buffet at 18° Restaurant between 6:30 – 10:30 am. The spread had every thing from a dedicated egg station: omelettes, eggs preps, waffles and pancakes, juices, veggies, fresh assorted breads, cheese, cereals, fresh fruit, fresh milk (hot, cold, skimmed, full fat and low fat), cold meats, sausages, foul madame, sauce beans, and arabic style breakfast of hommous and salads. This comes along with the view ofcourse.

Plus points:

  • The view is extra ordinary, period.
  • Its one of those iconic hotels, you cannot miss especially if you’re a tourist or otherwise.
  • There are hardly any flaws
  • Excellent service from staff, very friendly, patient and accommodating with all your requests.
  • Quick service.
  • Gracious food helpings, fresh food.

What to do there:

  • The hotel is equipped with several restaurants as well as a club for your comfort and social activities.
  • A well defined 5 star spa for relaxing as well as express treatments are available.
  • Profiterole: A state of the art coffee shop is located at the entrance of the building, and caters to mini office lunches, sandwiches, pastries and light dinners.
  • A salon for ladies and gentlemen.
  • A swimming pool, and gymnasium are also available.

Location convenience:

Located very near to Aloft Hotel and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The hotel is quite far from the next available super market or convenience store, so you better recheck all your requirements before checking in. However, it does make a very convenient location for those who have projects at ADNEC, for tourists wanting to experience the iconic structure, romantic getaways and honeymooners.

Please Note: I wouldn’t say that the place is completely child accident proof. Especially the bathrooms have a lot of stone designs, so you may want to supervise your kids at all times. Elevators need to be changed at the 18th Floor, therefore your children must be accompanied to avoid having them lost on the premises. Internet is chargeable at AED 35 for 1.4 mbps & at AED 55 for 4 mbps speed for 24 hours usage.
